On 1997, Mr. Juanito K. La Viña Sr., an experienced businessman since 1952, bought the already existing Nano-Alvarez Hospital from its previous owners and formed a family corporation. It was registered and approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission on June 25, 1998. The company's primary purpose is to own and run a first class hospital and medical center; provided that purely professional, medical or surgical services in connection therewith shall be performed by duly qualified physicians and surgeons who may or may not be connected with the corporation and who may be freely and individually contracted by the patients.

From its acquisition in 1997, the hospital has undergone a series of rehabilitation and improvement in terms of its facilities, equipment, personnel and most significantly, its structure. It operated as a secondary level hospital until the year 2010.
